DESCRIPTION

Model 5199 works on a proven "PULSE REFLECTION TECHNIQUE" & can detect most common faults quickly. It transmits a pulse of controlled pulse width & amplitude along the pair under test. The pulse travels with a fixed velocity & propagation which depends on the dielectric material surrounding the conducter - (PVC, Jelly, Paper etc.) whenever there is a change of characteristic impedence, a part of pulse energy reflects back to the source & both inerdent & reflected pulse are displayed on CRT. The distance to fault is computed & displayed on 4 1/2 digit LED display.
